‘Cheese paper’, air fryers, non-toxic cookware and instant coffee: everything we’ve tested with Drexel

Food safety used to mean properly washing lettuce and cooking chicken to 165F. But between nonstop food recalls and warnings of Pfas “forever chemicals” in everything from pans to takeaways boxes, these days it can seem like it’s as much about what you keep out of your kitchen as how you cook. What you buy matters.

If you’re worried about forever chemicals, want to know which air fryer is free of Pfas (and still makes crispy fries), or just need cookware made with the safest materials – send us your questions.

We’ll be hosting a live Q&A on 26 October at 12pm ET on the Guardian US site with guest expert Rachel Sherman, a research chef and project manager at the Drexel Food Lab. Rachel and the Drexel team have partnered with the Guardian to test everything from cheese storage and instant coffees to nontoxic pans and air fryers.

We will cover kitchen and food safety questions, and take your queries on how we test the kitchen essentials we recommend.

If you have a question, we’d like to hear from you – and be sure to tune into our live conversation on 26 October when Rachel may answer your question.
