Kosoko, a known supporter of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), maintained that the country’s situation was not as bad as some Nigerians portrayed it, expressing confidence that the president would eventually address the challenges facing the nation.

The 72-year-old actor made the remarks during an interview on Talk To B, a podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo. The interview was shared on YouTube on Friday night.

According to Kosoko, successive administrations failed to adequately prepare for Nigeria’s growing population, leaving the current government to deal with problems that had accumulated over the years.

“Things are not as bad as some people made us understand,” he said, arguing that some Nigerians who now complain about hunger had no meaningful source of livelihood before Tinubu assumed office.

Why Kosoko Wants Nigerians to Give Tinubu More Time

The veteran actor also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, arguing that the money previously spent on sustaining it could be redirected towards essential public services.

He pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the initiatives introduced by the Tinubu administration, urging beneficiaries to share their experiences to help Nigerians better understand the impact of the government’s policies.

Although he acknowledged that many citizens were experiencing difficult times, Kosoko insisted that the administration had introduced policies capable of attracting investment and improving the country’s economic situation.

He called on Nigerians to cooperate with the government and endure the current challenges, expressing optimism that the country would eventually emerge from its difficulties.

Beyond defending Tinubu’s policies, Kosoko made a direct appeal to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election, urging them to re-elect the president.

He argued that opposition parties had little to offer compared with the incumbent, insisting that Tinubu deserved the opportunity to complete the work he had started.

“Let’s allow the man to finish his job. He’s doing well,” Kosoko said.

The actor further expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to address the country’s problems, describing the president as someone working to resolve challenges inherited from previous administrations.

“My appeal is this. He will take us out of this mess. He is only cleaning up people’s mess,” he added.

Kosoko’s comments come amid continuing public debate over the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of the petrol subsidy and the rising cost of living.

While supporters of the president argue that the reforms are necessary to stabilise the economy and attract investment, critics continue to question their immediate impact on households struggling with food prices and other essential expenses.

His appeal for patience and a second term is likely to add to the political debate as parties and their supporters position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
