Former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan has died at the age of 71, with his family announcing his passing on Monday morning.

In a statement signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan on behalf of the family, the death was described as a painful loss to the family, the people of Delta State and Nigeria at large.

The family expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former governor, noting that his life and years of public service touched many people across the state and beyond.

Uduaghan played several key roles in the Delta State Government before becoming governor. He served as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007.

He later became governor of Delta State in 2007 and served two terms, leaving office in 2015.

During his time in public office, he was associated with efforts to promote human and infrastructural development across the state.

The family remembered him as a source of strength, a father figure, a beloved brother and uncle, and a respected elder whose contributions and legacy would remain cherished.

It also prayed for God to grant him eternal rest and comfort his family, friends, associates, former colleagues and others mourning his death.

Uduaghan’s passing marks the loss of a former state leader whose career spanned several important positions in Delta State’s political administration.
