“Beverly Afaglo was given two months to live, but died after six weeks” – Sister Breaks Silence

According to a report by Ghanaweb on Monday, Oct 19, 2026, Beverly Afaglo’s sister has opened up about the final weeks of the late actress and media personality, revealing that she died about six weeks after doctors gave her two months to live.

Mama Fiawotoe I made the disclosure in an interview with media personality Gifty Anti. She described how the family fought to keep Beverly alive as her illness advanced. The two months, she explained, were meant to let Beverly see her children, put her documents in order and settle personal affairs. Beverly lived roughly a month and a half beyond that verdict.

According to her sister, Beverly never accepted the prognosis. Even when doctors warned that her condition had turned critical, she would not entertain talk of death. Mama Fiawotoe said she repeatedly raised practical questions, including what should happen to Beverly’s businesses and who would care for her children. Beverly shut the conversation down each time, insisting, “I’m not going to die.”

The ordeal began with a lump under her arm, which Beverly first took for a boil. Trusting her knowledge of her own body, she went to hospital instead of treating it at home. A doctor prescribed Augmentin for a week, but the lump kept growing, and she was referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. A biopsy was then sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, where the results confirmed cancer.

Doctors recommended radiation therapy to shrink the tumour before surgery, and the family endured weeks of treatment before the operation took place. About two weeks afterwards, a new lump appeared at the surgical site. It grew, and a third followed. It was at this point that the family learnt Beverly had triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive form that can spread quickly.

Her condition continued to decline. Doctors at Swiss Medical Centre eventually told the family there was little more they could do, as the disease appeared to be moving towards her spine and other parts of her body. The family travelled to the United States seeking help, only to be told that earlier treatment there might have improved her chances.

Mama Fiawotoe said Beverly stayed hopeful throughout, maintaining even after returning home that she would get better. She died in May 2026 at the age of 42.
