Asiedu Nketiah Received Strong Backing From Top Ghanaian

Ghanaian musician Pope Skinny has expressed support for National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, declaring his belief that the veteran politician could become Ghana’s next president.

The musician shared his views during an interview with media personality Nana Romeo, explaining that although politics is not among his major interests, he holds certain political figures in high regard.

Pope Skinny identified Asiedu Nketiah, widely known as General Mosquito, as his preferred political personality, citing his extensive experience in public service and what he described as his clean record.

According to the musician, the NDC chairman’s decades of involvement in politics have contributed to his admiration for him. He argued that Asiedu Nketiah’s long political career, spanning more than 40 years, makes him an appealing candidate for the country’s highest office.

“I’m not really interested in politics, but there are some people I love so much. My favourite is General Mosquito, Asiedu Nketiah. I believe he will be the next president of Ghana,” Pope Skinny said.

He added that the politician had worked hard over the years and maintained that he was unaware of any corruption scandal involving the NDC chairman that had damaged his public reputation.

The musician also addressed the debate over whether Ghana should elect a younger person as its next president. His comments appeared to respond to concerns raised by politician and musician Kwame A Plus, who has advocated for younger generations to assume greater leadership responsibilities.

Pope Skinny suggested that an Asiedu Nketiah presidency could provide a transition period before younger politicians take over the country’s leadership. He argued that the veteran politician’s experience could help sustain the work of the current administration.

He further expressed concern about whether a younger leader would be able to maintain the pace of development under President John Dramani Mahama at this stage.

Beyond politics, Pope Skinny highlighted what he considers improvements in Ghana’s development, particularly in road infrastructure and national security. He pointed to roads that had previously been in poor condition but were now being improved, alongside what he described as better security compared with previous years.

His remarks add to the ongoing public discussion about leadership succession, political experience and the role of younger people in Ghana’s future governance.
