Arsenal handed huge injury boost for Man City match as Antoine Semenyo blow confirmed
Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo has been ruled out for around eight weeks, handing Arsenal a significant boost ahead of their Premier League title showdown next month.
According to a report by Football London on Monday, 19 October 2026, the Ghana international is expected to remain sidelined until the middle of December after sustaining an injury during City’s recent match against Ipswich.
Semenyo started City’s opening six Premier League fixtures before making a 13-minute appearance against Ipswich at the weekend.
However, the 26-year-old experienced discomfort after the match and will now miss several important games.
City manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the extent of the injury, although he indicated that the initial assessment had suggested a more serious problem.
“Semenyo will be out for around eight weeks,” the Italian coach said. “In the first moment, we expected a worse injury, after yesterday’s scan, we will feel better.
“It will be eight weeks, so when he is back in December, it will be like a new player. Not muscular. To lose Antoine, or any player, is not good.”
Semenyo has registered five goal contributions in seven league appearances this season, making his absence a considerable setback for City’s attacking options.
The former Bournemouth forward is expected to miss league matches against Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Leeds United, Brentford, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Arsenal are scheduled to host City on 29 November in a crucial encounter that could have significant implications for the title race.
Maresca’s side currently hold a three-point advantage over Mikel Arteta’s team, having collected the maximum 21 points from their opening seven league matches.
The injury comes amid further concerns over City’s squad fitness, with Erling Haaland, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly also experiencing problems following the Ipswich match.
Haaland could, however, return against AEK Athens in the Champions League on Tuesday.
“[Erling] can be available,” Maresca said. “We will see. We have a session now. We have some doubts after Saturday’s game. He was quite good yesterday, better. The rest are more or less okay.”
