“ADC’s Only Strategy Was For Obi To Deputise Atiku” — Agada Speaks On Attacks Against Dickson
Theo Abu Agada, the Director of New Media and Strategic Communications of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, is being targeted by critics because Peter Obi refused to become Atiku Abubakar’s running mate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This was contained in a report published by DAILY POST on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Agada made the statement while reacting to a post on X by a user who accused Dickson and the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The X user alleged that Kwankwaso joined the ADC to prevent Obi from emerging as the party’s presidential candidate, claiming that the move was intended to frustrate Obi’s ambition to contest the presidency.
Reacting, Agada defended Dickson, Kwankwaso and Obi, arguing that the criticism against them was linked to Obi’s decision not to run as Atiku’s deputy under the ADC platform.
He described Dickson as a target of repeated attacks because of his role in providing a platform for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket under the NDC.
Agada added that he would issue a formal statement addressing the allegations but maintained that the party was focused on winning the 2027 presidential election.
“You people’s only strategy for defeating the APC before now was having His Excellency Peter Obi deputise Atiku, and since that didn’t happen, Dickson is now their punching bag for platforming the OK ticket.”
