Abid Sher Ali vows grand operation against terrorists, facilitators in KP
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Abid Sher Ali said the government would launch a grand operation against terrorists and their facilitators in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to restore law and order in the province.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Abid Sher Ali said establishing peace and security in KP was the government’s top priority and that a united front would be formed against terrorism.
He said the government was committed to eliminating terrorism and effectively managing development and security matters in the province.
“The public will see that the government is serious about improving the law and order situation,” he said.
Abid Sher Ali said the government had not come to engage in politics but to save the state, adding that eliminating terrorism was a shared responsibility of all political parties and security institutions.
“Pakistan comes first; political parties and individuals come later,” he said.
Responding to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s criticism, Abid Sher Ali said the JUI-F chief knew best why he was angry.
He said political parties should not lecture others about standing against the state, recalling that some parties had supported former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf.
Abid Sher Ali said the PML-N stood with the state and its institutions, adding that making hostile statements against them was not in Pakistan’s interest.
He said the government had always sought to resolve political disputes through dialogue but would not compromise with those targeting the state and its institutions.
“Our struggle is against terrorists,” he said, adding that the public must decide whether it stood with Pakistan or with terrorists.
The senator said security forces, Frontier Corps and police personnel had made sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, while ordinary citizens had also lost their lives.
He said the blood of martyrs demanded the restoration of peace and security across the country.
Abid Sher Ali called for national unity against terrorism and said everyone must adopt a clear position on the issue.
