3rd suspect charged in July Montgomery homicide
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A third suspect has been charged in the July homicide of a 62-year-old man in Montgomery, according to police.
Authorities said Lemarcus Austin, 21, of Montgomery, is charged with two counts of capital murder in the shooting death of Alan Griffin.
First responders were called to the 500 block of Woodbrook Drive in north Montgomery around 5:55 p.m. on Monday, July 27. That’s where they found Griffin’s body.
Austin was taken into custody on Sunday, Oct. 18, and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond. A juvenile suspect and 19-year-old William Wingard have also been charged in the shooting.
Court documents state Austin was allegedly with the other two suspects, and the three allegedly robbed the victim.
Investigators said, according to court records, that both the juvenile and Wingard were armed during the course of the robbery, and the juvenile was in his car when he allegedly shot the victim.
The incident was captured on video, and there were multiple witnesses on the scene, court filings said.
Montgomery police reported Griffin’s death was the 31st homicide of 2026.
