2027: The ADC Has already Calculated That Atiku Will Win If Kwankwaso and Obi Are On His Side – Sale

In a recent interview on Trust TV, on Monday, October 19, 2026, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its approach to opposition politics and the ongoing discussions about possible alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.

During the interview, Mohammed argued that the ADC appeared to place considerable importance on securing the support of prominent political figures, including Peter Obi, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to Mohammed, “The ADC has already calculated that Atiku will win if Kwankwaso and Obi are on his side.” He made the statement while discussing the ADC’s efforts to attract opposition figures and the disagreements that have emerged following Obi and Kwankwaso’s decision to pursue their political ambitions through the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mohammed maintained that political parties should focus on presenting their candidates, policies and governing plans to Nigerians instead of assuming that the support of certain politicians would determine their electoral prospects.

He argued that Obi and Kwankwaso had chosen to establish an alternative platform through the NDC to give Nigerians another option in the 2027 presidential election. He also stated that their decision should not be portrayed as an attempt to undermine other opposition parties.

The Kwankwasiyya spokesperson further criticised the suggestion that the NDC’s refusal to join the ADC could be responsible for any difficulties the latter might encounter in its political preparations. He maintained that each party should be allowed to present its vision and compete for voters’ support.

Mohammed also emphasised that Nigerians should be able to choose their preferred candidates based on competence, capacity, character and records rather than political calculations involving alliances and individual personalities.

He concluded that opposition parties should concentrate on communicating their programmes and convincing Nigerians of their ability to govern, rather than depending on the participation of particular political figures as they prepare for the 2027 general election.
