Women Forest Rangers passing-out parade held in Multan
MULTAN – For the first time in Punjab’s history, a passing-out parade of women forest rangers was held at the Police Training College Multan. A total of 212 women forest rangers recruited from across Punjab successfully completed their two-month training. The trainees included 30 inspectors and 182 other forest rangers. During the training, the recruits received instruction in weapon handling, relevant laws and other professional duties to prepare them for protecting forests and preventing illegal activities. Director General Forests, Azfar Zia, said that Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif had transformed the Forest department into an organised force in view of the growing challenges posed by climate change. Azfar Zia said the Forest department managed approximately 1.65 million acres of land in Punjab. Despite the vast area under its management, trees along canals and roads had previously been insufficiently visible, highlighting the need to strengthen the department’s field operations.
