A glamorous handbag collector in Los Angeles was left terrified after a group of thieves broke into her home to steal her $300,000 collection after she flaunted her goods on social media.

Patricia Vuagniaux, 60, said that thieves stole her ‘longtime’ collection of Hermès handbags while she was at a doctor’s appointment on Monday afternoon in Eagle Rock.

Despite security measures in and around her home, the looters managed to dodge a Ring camera and reinforced windows before breaking open the lock on her closet door, ABC 7 reported.

‘They were strategic enough to avoid the Ring camera in the front so they came through the side. They knew exactly what they were doing,’ she told the outlet.

Inside was her treasured collection of Hermès Birkin bags, which she estimated to be worth around $250,000 to $300,000.

Vuagniaux said she started her collection over 20 years ago and considered them as a part of her retirement fund, the outlet reported.

‘I worked hard for everything I got,’ she told the New York Post.

Video showed shattered glass across her home and her ransacked closet.

The distraught homeowner said the thieves also snatched watches and a jewelry box that had her daughters’ baby teeth inside, which she said was the most painful loss.

She told the Post that they had used a signal jammer to disrupt her camera system, which had also reached her neighbors cameras.

Vuagniaux said she ‘fell in love’ with the luxury handbags after she retired and sold her coffee business.

Months before her home was ransacked she had posted a list of her collection on Facebook in a luxury handbag group, detailing thousands of dollars worth of items.

She told the outlet that she used to sell the bags when she grew tired of them.

The list included various Birkin 35 bags, 1 gold Kelly Sellier bag, a Birkin 30 in Tiffany blue swift and a brand new Evelyne Pochette 23.

‘I never thought of that,’ she told the Post, who reminded her of the listed items on social media. ‘I’m such an idiot.’

Vuagniaux said she feels as though she was targeted for her collection, which has brought on a sense of unease in her neighborhood.

‘I’m so scared. I’m so afraid to be in my home,’ she said, adding that she was thankful that her daughter and husband were safe.
