Rams’ Alaric Jackson gets a big break on suspension after punching Bradley Chubb

The Los Angeles Rams’ frustrating loss to the Buffalo Bills made Alaric Jackson’s night even worse when the Rams star lost his temper, which ultimately resulted in a two-game suspension from the league. However, there is now some good news for Jackson and Rams fans, as his suspension has been reduced.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Jackson’s two-game suspension has been reduced to a single game.

“Just in: Hearing officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, has reduced the two-game suspension of Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson to one game,” Schefter wrote.

Jackson was handed a two-game suspension after punching the Bills star Bradley Chubb in the face during a postgame confrontation following the Rams’ overtime loss on Monday night.

The NFL subsequently announced that Jackson had violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which prohibits conduct that goes against the generally understood principles of sportsmanship. Following the incident, the league imposed a two-game suspension on the offensive lineman.

However, Jackson appealed the decision, and his case was reviewed by hearing officer Derrick Brooks. The successful appeal reduced his suspension to one game, allowing him to become eligible to return for the Rams’ Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

As a result, Jackson will miss only the Rams’ Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The suspension reduction also provides financial relief for the offensive lineman. According to Fox News, the successful appeal saves Jackson an estimated $934,555 from his $16.8 million base salary.

The suspension is particularly significant because Jackson serves as the Rams’ starting left tackle and plays a crucial role in protecting quarterback Matthew Stafford’s blind side. Even a one-game absence forces the coaching staff to make adjustments to its offensive line as the team prepares for its upcoming matchup.
