Motorcycle-taxi operator seeks police help to recover stolen bike

Timergara  – A motorcycle-taxi operator from Lajbok village in Lower Dir has appealed to senior police officials and the district administration to help recover his motorcycle, alleging that a man who had gained his trust borrowed the vehicle and then disappeared.

Speaking to journalists at the Timergara Press Club on Wednesday, Muhammad Irshad said he earned his family’s livelihood by operating a motorcycle taxi in the area. He alleged that he had met a man named Aamir at a motorcycle-taxi stand some time ago and that the man had gradually gained his confidence.

“About two weeks ago, he took my motorcycle on the pretext of borrowing it and fled,” Irshad alleged.

He said he subsequently visited the address Aamir had provided in an attempt to trace him, only to discover that the man had been living in a rented house. Irshad further alleged that the landlord had no record of the man’s identity and that Aamir had not registered his details with Balambat police station.

Expressing disappointment over what he described as a lack of cooperation from Balambat police, Irshad urged the Lower Dir district administration and the district police officer to take notice of the incident, trace the suspect and recover his motorcycle.

He said the loss of the vehicle had deprived him of his sole source of income, making it difficult for him to support his family.
