Lagos govt sets date to demolish distressed 25-storey GNI House

Lagos State Government has announced plans to begin the controlled demolition of the distressed Great Nigeria Insurance House on Lagos Island on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to prevent potential threats to lives and property.The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the decision followed structural assessments by relevant agencies, which established that the building posed a significant danger to public safety.
