Kenyans Face Another Raised Fuel Price as Petrol Nears Ksh.227 Per Litre

Kenyans are set to face higher transport and living costs after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced an increase in fuel prices.

The latest changes will see petrol, diesel and kerosene become more expensive in Nairobi, adding pressure on households and businesses already dealing with daily expenses.

According to the new prices, petrol has increased by Sh12.93 per litre, bringing the cost to Sh226.96.

Diesel has also gone up by Sh9.90, with motorists now expected to pay Sh227.76 per litre.

However, kerosene has recorded the biggest increase among the three fuel products.

Its price has risen by Sh28.49, bringing the cost to Sh219.87 per litre.

The new prices will remain in force until November 14.

Fuel prices affect more than motorists visiting petrol stations. Any significant increase can have an impact on the cost of transporting passengers and goods across the country.

Public transport operators may face higher operating expenses, while businesses that depend on vehicles to deliver products could also feel the pressure.

For ordinary Kenyans, this may eventually affect the amount they spend travelling to work, taking children to school and buying household necessities.

Small traders who transport vegetables, cereals and other goods to markets may also have to deal with higher costs.

When transport becomes more expensive, some businesses may pass part of the additional cost to consumers. However, the actual impact will depend on how different operators and traders respond to the new prices.

The increase in kerosene prices is another concern for households that rely on the fuel for cooking and lighting.

With all three petroleum products recording increases, consumers will have to adjust their budgets to accommodate the changes.

The latest announcement comes at a time when many families are carefully managing their spending on food, transport, school needs and other basic expenses.

As the new prices take effect, motorists and households will be watching closely to see how the changes affect their daily costs in the coming weeks.
