Government boosts grain reserve

GOVERNMENT is buying grain from lo­cal farmers to replenish its strategic re­serve ahead of an anticipated El Niño-in­duced drought. Zimbabwe is bracing for a dry and erratic 2026-27 rainfall season, with a strong El Niño weather pattern expected to bring below-nor­mal rainfall, prolonged dry spells and high­er-than-normal temperatures.
