GES approves October 30 CPD day for private school teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has approved Friday, October 30, 2026, as a National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day for teachers in private schools across the country.

The day will be observed as a holiday for learners to allow teachers to participate in the training programme.

In a letter dated October 13, 2026, and signed by Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Prof. Smile Dzisi, the GES said the approval followed a request from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS).

The training will be held under the theme, “Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being of Teachers.”

According to the GES, the programme is designed to equip teachers with practical strategies to protect their mental health, improve their well-being, build resilience and promote supportive school environments.

The Service has directed Regional Directors of Education to inform Metro, Municipal and District Directors and ensure the smooth organisation of the programme.

The directors are also expected to work with the relevant District Training Officers to coordinate and monitor the participation of private schools in their respective districts.
