Four Alabama Women Arrested After Police Find $1,855 in Stolen Target Merchandise Inside Kia
Image Credit: Newnan Police / FOX5 Four women from Lanett, Alabama, were arrested along Interstate 85 in Georgia after police connected their Kia to the reported theft of 107 items worth $1,855.18 from a Target store in Newnan.
The October 5, 2026, incident began when someone called police after spotting two or three women apparently shoplifting at the Target on Bullsboro Drive. The caller reported seeing the women leave the store and enter a gray vehicle.
By the time Newnan Police Officer W. McGraw arrived, the vehicle was gone. Target’s loss prevention manager described four women carrying merchandise beyond all points of sale without paying, then loading the products into a gray Kia K4 before driving away along Newnan Crossing Bypass.
Coweta County sheriff’s deputies later stopped the Kia on Interstate 85 and detained its four occupants until Newnan officers arrived to make the arrests. Police body cameras captured the encounter.

Near Exit 39, deputies had already detained the women when McGraw reached the scene. After informing them that they were under arrest for shoplifting, he took custody of two while Officer Debisschop handled the others.
Deputies transported the women to the Coweta County Jail in separate patrol vehicles and identified them in Newnan Police Department records as Sanbracia Marianna Johnson, 28; Anecia Tashae Cammon, 26; Latavia Traviona Smith, 21; and Tranecia Deaisha Smith, 23.
A search of the vehicle by Newnan Police Lt. Condit uncovered merchandise identified as belonging to Target.
The recovered products included 32 apparel items, 46 health and beauty products, 10 home items, 18 laundry, cleaning, and closet products, and one stationery or office supply item. A Target transaction receipt verified their combined retail value of $1,855.18.
After securing the merchandise in his patrol vehicle, Condit remained with the Kia until Baxter’s towing service removed it. Officers later returned the products to the store.
Following the arrests, McGraw charged Johnson, Cammon, and both Smiths with felony shoplifting and left copies of their warrantless arrest paperwork with the Coweta County Jail.
Under Georgia’s shoplifting statute, theft involving merchandise valued at more than $500 can be prosecuted as a felony. A conviction carries a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison.
