Davido Submits Five Projects for 2027 Grammy Awards, Targets Multiple Categories
Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly submitted five musical projects for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, targeting major categories including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
The submissions, first reported by music awards tracking platform The Grammy Guru on X on October 12, cover his album Oriadé and four tracks, as the singer seeks further recognition from the Recording Academy.
According to reports by TheCable Lifestyle and Legit.ng, the entries span several categories, including Best Global Music Album, Song of the Year and Best Music Video.
The singer’s reported entries and their respective categories are as follows:
Davido’s album Oriadé was reportedly submitted for four categories: Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Album Cover.
The project represents his bid for recognition across both major album honours and technical and visual presentation categories.
The song B4 B4, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, was reportedly entered for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
The collaboration Nakupenda, featuring South African music group TxC alongside Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo, was submitted for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
Le Show, featuring fellow Nigerian singer Ayra Starr and American rapper French Montana, was reportedly entered in the Best African Music Performance category.
The track I Know Who I Be, featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, was submitted for Best Music Video.
The reported entries reflect Davido’s efforts to secure recognition across album, song, performance and visual categories at the international awards.
Despite the reported entries, Davido has not yet secured nominations in these categories for the 2027 awards.
According to the Recording Academy, submissions undergo eligibility checks and category screening before eligible entries proceed to the voting process.
First-round voting for the 69th Annual Grammy Awards runs from October 12 to October 22, 2026, with nominees scheduled to be announced on November 16.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles, California.
The distinction is important because submitting a song or album only places it forward for consideration; it does not guarantee a nomination or a win.
Davido is among the Nigerian artistes who have continued to pursue international recognition for Afrobeats through the Grammy Awards.
At the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, he received nominations for Best Global Music Album for Timeless, Best African Music Performance for Unavailable, and Best Global Music Performance for Feel.
Although he did not win in those categories, the nominations marked a significant moment in his international awards journey.
His reported submissions for the 2027 edition now place his latest body of work among the entries being considered for recognition at the ceremony, pending the Recording Academy’s eligibility and voting processes.
The final outcome will depend on the Academy’s screening and voting procedures, with the official nominations expected in November.
