Champions League Table And Match Review After The End Of Matchday2

According to a report by BBC Sport on Thursday October 15, 2026, Real Madrid secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over AS Roma in the Champions League after recovering from difficult moments. Antonio Rudiger scored the decisive goal late, completing an impressive comeback for the Spanish giants.

Roma began confidently, creating early chances through Matias Soule and Mario Hermoso. However, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made several important saves before Marten de Roon opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a deflected strike.

Madrid responded five minutes later when Kylian Mbappe found the net. His effort from outside the penalty area took a deflection, wrong-footing Pierluigi Gollini and bringing the visitors level in an increasingly competitive encounter.

Roma regained their advantage shortly after half-time. Donyell Malen struck in the 51st minute with an effort that deflected beyond Courtois, putting the home side ahead again and leaving Madrid searching for another response.

Real Madrid introduced Arda Guler and Endrick as they attempted to change the game’s direction. The substitutions strengthened their attacking approach, increasing pressure on Roma’s defence as the contest approached its dramatic conclusion.

Carlos Espi appeared to bring Madrid closer in the 84th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Endrick then equalised in the 85th minute, heading Guler’s corner into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-3.

Madrid refused to settle for a draw and continued attacking. Their persistence was rewarded in the 90th minute when Guler delivered another dangerous corner, allowing Rudiger to score with a low finish and complete the turnaround.

Roma could not find another equaliser during stoppage time. Mbappe tested Gollini once more, but the goalkeeper made a comfortable save as Madrid held on for a memorable Champions League victory.
