Anthony Baffoe: GFA Presidency Not My Driving Force, But Future Is Uncertain

Former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has opened up about the possibility of running for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), saying the idea does not currently drive him, though he admits the future remains unpredictable.

In a recent interview, Baffoe explained that his focus is not on seeking the top position in Ghanaian football administration. He stated that running for the GFA presidency is not something that motivates him at the moment, but he was quick to add that circumstances can change, and one can never rule out future possibilities.

The former defender, who has held various roles in football administration, including serving as a FIFA and CAF official, said his priority has always been contributing to the growth and development of the sport rather than pursuing leadership titles. He emphasized that service to the game matters more to him than occupying a specific office.

Baffoe acknowledged that the GFA presidency comes with enormous responsibility and scrutiny, and anyone seeking the role must be prepared to handle the challenges that come with it. He noted that Ghanaian football faces several issues, including league development, youth football, and national team performance, which require dedicated leadership and clear vision.

While he did not confirm or deny any plans to contest in future elections, Baffoe reiterated that his commitment to football remains strong. He said he would continue to support initiatives that help improve the game in Ghana, whether or not he ever decides to run for president.

His comments have sparked discussions among football fans and stakeholders, with many wondering whether he might eventually enter the race. For now, Baffoe insists he is not driven by the ambition, but as he put it, “you never know tomorrow.”
