Water Is Now Luxury Under NDC – 500ml Now Selling At GH¢4
That is the big question NPP Communications Team Member, Issac Obeng, is asking Ghanaians today.
According to him, the price of 500ml bottled water has increased from GH¢2.50 to GH¢4 since NPP left office.
This is not just about water. This is about life. Water is the most basic thing every human being needs. If even water has become expensive, then you can imagine what is happening to rice, oil, gari, and rent.
Under NPP, bottled water producers themselves recommended that 500ml bottled water should be sold at GH¢2.50. That was the price Ghanaians knew.
Today, the same 500ml bottle that was GH¢2.50 is now selling between GH¢1.50 and GH¢4.00, with most shops selling at GH¢4. The price has almost doubled.
Sachet water, which used to be the common man’s hope, has also gone up. A bag that was GH¢6 is now GH¢10 to GH¢15.
The reason is simple. Fuel price is up. Plastic cost is up. Transport cost is up. And when cost goes up, the ordinary Ghanaian suffers.
Issac Obeng says this small bottle tells the whole story of hardship under this government.
A worker who used to buy two bottles a day with GH¢5 now needs GH¢8. A student who goes to school needs more money just to drink water. A mother who packs water for her children now has to think twice.
If water, which God gave us for free, is now GH¢4 for just 500ml, then this government must check itself.
NPP left water at GH¢2.50. Today it is GH¢4. Ghanaians are watching and Ghanaians are feeling the pain in their pockets.
