Watch: Helicopter footage shows 115mph pursuit

CloseFootage from a police helicopter's thermal imaging camera has shown a driver fleeing officers at speeds of up to 115mph (185km/h).

The fugitive fled from police in Basildon, Essex, on 19 December and led them on a chase down the A13 to Dagenham in east London.

The 29-year-old driver travelled the wrong way along a slip road at one point and undertook other drivers at 100mph (160km/h). Police later found a key the offender threw into a bush while he was on the run.

Essex Police said he later admitted dangerous driving; failing to stop for police; driving while disqualified and driving without insurance and was jailed for one year and banned from driving for a further three years and four months.
