UCL Table After Real Madrid Beat AS Roma 4-3
According to a report by BBC SPORT on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Real Madrid staged a remarkable late comeback to defeat AS Roma 4-3 in an entertaining Champions League encounter, after finding themselves two goals behind in the second half.
Antonio Rudiger scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute to complete the comeback and secure a dramatic victory for the Spanish giants.
The match started with both teams creating promising opportunities. Roma goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini made an impressive save in the fourth minute to deny Mario Hermoso, while Thibaut Courtois also demonstrated his quality by stopping Matias Soule’s powerful effort shortly afterwards.
Roma eventually took the lead in the 20th minute through Marten de Roon. The midfielder found space outside the penalty area and unleashed a shot that took a deflection before beating Courtois.
Real Madrid responded in the 25th minute when Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net. His effort from outside the box deflected past Gollini to restore parity.
Both sides continued searching for another goal before the interval, but neither managed to find a breakthrough. Jude Bellingham came close to giving Madrid the lead with a first-time effort that narrowly missed the target.
Roma regained the advantage shortly after the restart. Donyell Malen scored in the 51st minute with an attempt from inside the penalty area that took a deflection and beat Courtois.
Malen thought he had scored again six minutes later, but his effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
Madrid introduced Arda Guler and Endrick in the 59th minute as Jose Mourinho attempted to change the direction of the contest. The substitutions eventually paid off as the visitors increased their attacking pressure.
Mbappe had an effort saved in the 66th minute before another goal was disallowed for offside three minutes later.
Madrid’s persistence finally produced results in the closing stages. Carlos Espi briefly appeared to reduce the deficit in the 84th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Endrick then headed home from Guler’s corner in the 85th minute to make it 3-2. Five minutes later, Rudiger met another Guler delivery and fired the ball into the net to complete Madrid’s comeback.
Roma could not find another equaliser, allowing Real Madrid to claim a thrilling 4-3 victory after a dramatic second-half turnaround.
