UCL: Real Madrid Superstar Wins Man of The Match Award After His Superb Performance

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Arda Guler played a decisive role in Real Madrid’s dramatic 4-3 victory over AS Roma in the Champions League encounter delivering two crucial assists to help his team complete a remarkable comeback.

The Turkish midfielder made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, creating both goals that turned the contest in Madrid’s favour during the closing stages.

Real Madrid endured a difficult evening against Roma, with the Italian side taking a 1-0 lead through Marten de Roon in the 20th minute. Kylian Mbappe restored parity five minutes later with a deflected effort from the edge of the penalty area.

However, Roma regained control after the break, with Donyell Malen finding the net in the 51st minute to put the hosts ahead again. Malen subsequently scored another goal in the 57th minute, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

With Madrid trailing 2-1, manager Jose Mourinho introduced Guler in the 59th minute, replacing Denzel Dumfries. The midfielder’s introduction proved instrumental as Real Madrid increased their attacking pressure in search of an equaliser.

Guler demonstrated his quality from set pieces in the 85th minute when he delivered a corner that Endrick converted with a well-directed header into the bottom-left corner. The goal brought Madrid level at 3-3 and gave the visitors renewed belief in their chances of securing victory.

The Turkish international was not finished, however. Five minutes later, he delivered another dangerous corner into the penalty area, finding Antonio Rudiger, who fired a low finish into the net to complete Madrid’s comeback and secure all three points.

Jude Bellingham also threatened from a corner in the 87th minute, directing a header narrowly wide as Madrid continued pushing forward.

Although Mbappe and Endrick contributed to the comeback with important attacking moments, Guler’s two assists proved decisive in determining the outcome.
