UCL: Bayern Munich Suffer Michael Olise Blow Ahead of Arsenal Clash

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Tuesday October 13, 2026, Bayern Munich have suffered a major setback ahead of their Champions League meeting with Arsenal after Michael Olise was sent off during their 3-3 draw against Viking.

The French winger will miss the October 21 encounter at the Allianz Arena after receiving a one-match suspension for his dismissal.

Bayern surrendered a two-goal deficit to take the lead in Norway before conceding a late equaliser. Gianni Stensness opened the scoring for Viking in the second minute with a header from a Tripic corner. Peter Christiansen doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 38th minute.

Harry Kane brought Bayern back into the contest after the interval. The England captain converted a penalty in the 54th minute before scoring again six minutes later. Luis Diaz completed the German side’s comeback by making it 3-2 in the 71st minute.

However, substitute Herman Haugen rescued a point for Viking with a 90th-minute header. The result left Bayern frustrated and provided Arsenal with an additional advantage ahead of their upcoming European showdown.

Olise’s dismissal further complicated the evening for the German champions. The winger received his first yellow card for a foul before being shown a second booking for throwing the ball at Tripic’s face in front of the referee. The incident resulted in the first red card of his professional career.

Kane criticised the incident after the match, insisting that Olise needed to take responsibility for his actions. The Bayern striker also acknowledged that the dismissal affected the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, Arsenal strengthened their position in the Champions League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lille at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring in the 64th minute before Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka struck within seven minutes.

The result extended Arsenal’s Champions League winning streak to 14 matches. It also marked their ninth victory in 10 games across all competitions this season.

Arsenal’s evening was overshadowed by the death of club life president Ken Friar at the age of 92. The players wore black armbands during the Lille match in his honour.

The Gunners will now prepare for their trip to Munich, where Bayern must cope without Olise in a crucial European encounter.
