Tupac’s Sister Breaks Down in Court, Reveals Family’s Lasting Pain Over His Murder
Tupac Shakur’s sister has delivered an emotional testimony in court, breaking down in tears as she described how the legendary rapper’s murder devastated their family nearly 30 years after his death.
According to a report by Fox News on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, she spoke during the sentencing proceedings for Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who was convicted in connection with the 1996 killing of the hip-hop icon.
While addressing the court, Tupac’s sister explained that losing her brother had a devastating effect on the entire family, leaving them struggling with grief and emotional pain for years.
She told the court that Tupac’s death had crippled her family for a long time, becoming emotional as she recalled the difficult period that followed the tragedy.
Beyond describing the family’s suffering, she also spoke about her personal struggles with mental health. She revealed that she had battled depression, suicidal thoughts and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following her brother’s murder. According to her testimony, the challenges became so severe that she was hospitalised several times.
Her account highlighted how the consequences of violent crime can continue to affect surviving relatives long after a tragedy has occurred.
Davis was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for his role in the case, marking a major development in the investigation into Tupac’s death, which remained unresolved for more than two decades.
Tupac, whose full name was Tupac Amaru Shakur, was shot in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, while travelling in a car with Death Row Records founder Suge Knight. He died six days later, on September 13, at the age of 25.
Despite his relatively short life, Tupac became one of the most influential figures in hip-hop. His music and poetry addressed issues such as poverty, racial inequality, social injustice and the difficulties faced by people living in disadvantaged communities.
His death shocked the music industry and triggered years of investigations, speculation and public debate. For his family and millions of fans worldwide, the long wait for accountability became an enduring part of the tragedy.
Davis, a former gang member who had previously spoken publicly about the events surrounding the shooting, was arrested in 2023. Prosecutors alleged that he helped organise the attack following a confrontation involving members of rival groups.
The latest court proceedings have once again brought attention to the lasting impact of Tupac’s murder, as his sister’s emotional testimony offered a painful reminder that the consequences of his death extend far beyond the music industry.
