Toluwanisings family confirms gospel singer’s death

The family of Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings has confirmed his death, hours after reports of his passing began circulating on social media.

The singer, whose full name was given by his family as Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died in the early hours of Wednesday.

In a statement shared on Instagram late Wednesday, the family announced his death and described him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister.

“With deep sorrow, the family announcesthe passing of MINISTER OLAYEMI BAYONILE BOLAJI Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry(TOGOMM)

“Who passed away in the early hours of14 October 2026.

“A dearly loved husband, family member,and gospel minister.Please keep his wife, family, and loved onesin your prayers during this difficult time.

“Funeral arrangements will be announcedby the family in due course.”

Reports of the singer’s death began spreading on social media on Wednesday after lawyer and convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates, Pelumi Olajengbesi, shared a photograph of him on Instagram.

His death has since drawn reactions from fans and celebrities, many of whom have expressed shock and sent condolences to his family.

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele paid tribute to the singer, describing him as humble, hardworking and gentle.

She wrote, “ha. hmmmmm such a humble and hard working gentle man. may his soul rest in peace. may the lord comfort his loved ones.My condolences to the family and TOGOMM 🙏”

Actress Mo Bimpe also reacted to the news, writing, “God 😢😢😢😢😢😢”

Her colleague, Nkechi Blessing, expressed her grief in a brief comment, saying, “Death is cruel.”

Toluwanisings was known for his gospel music and worship performances. His songs include ‘Kos’oluwa Laye’, ‘A Very Big God’, ‘E Lagbara’ and ‘Unreserved Praise’.

His music gained wider attention in 2021 after comedian and content creator Woli Arole shared one of his songs online, helping introduce his work to a broader audience.

The family has asked for prayers for the singer’s wife, relatives and loved ones as they mourn.

As of Wednesday night, the family had not disclosed the circumstances of his death. It said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
