Stars Wars actor John Boyega, 34, shares first video of baby son after revealing secret marriage of almost 2 years

LEAVE A COMMENT Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega revealed that he had welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Lashontae "Tae" Heckard, making him a father for the first time.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram to share a glimpse of his son, whose name he hasn't announced, along with several snaps of Tae, confirming their romance. The last slide featured a short clip of him holding his son while the baby slept and he rubbed his head in a soothing motion.

He also included a photo of Tae when she was pregnant, clad in a stunning baby blue dress as he stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Another snap featured John, Tae, and her son, Brandon Jennings Jr., whom she shares with her ex, former NBA star Brandon Jennings.

"Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now, but thank you for all the well wishes. Also, my sister is about to pop! Wish her well too!" John wrote in the caption. "Back to feeding this big baby!"

The British star spilled the news of his family life for the first time, revealing that he had stepped back from work for a time to focus on his wife, son, and stepson.

"I've been married for coming up to two years now," he told The Guardian. "My baby's on the way. We got a baby cooking."

"So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It's been so nice with the timing," he continued. "Us being parents is funny! I just want to make sure I'm present, I'm consistent and full of love."

"I've tried to as much as possible – especially following periods when I've worked a lot – to de-center my career," John explained. "There have been certain moments when I've known that this is a time for family. You know, there's stuff to do."

The Pacific Rim: Uprising actor also revealed that he and Tae had a private wedding, and they bought his ring from Walmart. "This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this. It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!" he said.

The pair haven't ruled out a big wedding celebration yet, as he told the outlet. "I would love to have a wedding celebration. We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry. And by then, we'll have to shut Nigeria down!"

John and Tae were first spotted together at Disneyland in early 2025, sparking rumors of a romance between the pair. Tae is an actress and model, best known for her roles in The Game and #BlackAF. The 48-year-old changed her name on Instagram to Tae Boyega, confirming their nuptials. Previously, John was not linked to any celebrities, and shared with Esquire in 2023 that it was not his thing to be with famous people.

"I've never dated a celebrity. Not for any particular reason. I just don't be going to the parties," he told the outlet. "I want a relationship, but I don't fixate on it. I'm not opposed to it. I just haven't met anyone that really ignites that in me."
