Senator Shekarau Reveals What A4A Movement Plans To Do For Tinubu In The North
Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) movement, has announced plans to mobilise voters across Nigeria’s 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a report published by Daily Trust on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Shekarau disclosed the initiative during a meeting with the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. The delegation was led by Shekarau, alongside the movement’s Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees and former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong.
Speaking during the meeting, Shekarau said A4A was formed to strengthen the APC’s political machinery by complementing its existing structures. He explained that the movement brings together seasoned politicians, former state governors, legislators and political strategists to expand voter participation and tackle voter apathy before the next general elections.
The former Kano State governor emphasised that the movement’s primary objective was to increase voter turnout throughout northern Nigeria, a region widely recognised for having the country’s largest voting population.
He noted that A4A would intensify its grassroots mobilisation efforts to ensure that more eligible voters participate in the 2027 elections, with the aim of improving the APC’s electoral performance across the region.
Shekarau stressed that the group was determined not only to sustain the level of voter participation recorded in previous elections but also to achieve a significant increase in turnout in the North.
He said the movement recognised the region’s electoral importance and was committed to deploying strategies that would encourage greater participation at the polls.
The initiative, according to Shekarau, is intended to reinforce the APC’s existing political network and strengthen its mobilisation efforts as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
