Rana Sanaullah Warns Terrorism Threat Could Endanger Pakistan, Defends Emergency in KP

Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has warned that the growing threat of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could have serious consequences for the entire country if not addressed promptly, questioning why further evidence was needed to establish the scale of the security challenge.

Rana Sanaullah discussed the endorsement of the decision to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was responding to the opposition’s criticism that the government had not presented sufficient evidence of terrorism in the province.

Sanaullah argued that the threat was visible and did not require further proof, questioning whether terrorist attacks were not taking place across KP. He said Pakistan had faced terrorism for around four decades, but maintained that the country had not experienced a threat of the same nature during that period.

He alleged that after the failure of Operation Sindoor, India had turned to proxy elements. He further claimed that, following its defeat in Marka-e-Haq, India was operating through Afghanistan and that drones were also being used in attacks with technical support from Israel.

The prime minister’s adviser cautioned that delaying action against militant threats could put not only Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but Pakistan as a whole at risk.

He said the provincial government had been asked to fulfil its responsibilities but had declined to do so, prompting the federal government to assume control of the province’s administration. According to Sanaullah, the resulting governance vacuum would now be addressed, while the armed forces and law enforcement agencies would work to eliminate terrorists.
