Petrol And Diesel Prices Expected To Fall From October 16 Will LPG Prices Rise By 18.5% COMEC
Petrol and diesel prices are expected to fall from Friday, 16 October 2026, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are projected to rise by 18.5 per cent, according to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).Joy News / Joy Business graphic (14 October 2026); COMAC pricing outlook reports via Citi Newsroom, GhanaWeb and MyJoyOnline.
In its pricing outlook for the second window of October, COMAC projects a 1.67 per cent reduction in petrol prices and a 3.32 per cent decline in diesel prices. On a cash-purchase basis, petrol is expected to sell at GH¢17.67 per litre, while diesel is projected at GH¢19.30 per litre.
In contrast, LPG is forecast to increase sharply by 18.50 per cent to GH¢20.60 per kilogramme. This will raise the cost of refilling cooking gas cylinders for households.
The Chamber attributed the changes to movements on the international market. Average crude oil prices rose by 2.03 per cent to US$126.73 per barrel, driven by supply concerns. However, refined product prices moved differently: petrol fell by 3.93 per cent and diesel by 6.68 per cent, while LPG rose by 7.77 per cent.
The National Petroleum Authority’s minimum price floors for the period also reflect these trends. Petrol’s minimum price drops from GH¢16.45 to GH¢16.09 per litre, diesel from GH¢17.97 to GH¢17.09 per litre, while LPG’s minimum rises from GH¢11.10 to GH¢13.87 per kilogramme.
COMAC noted that the depreciation of the cedi remains a risk that could limit the full benefit of lower international prices. Government interventions aimed at cushioning consumers, particularly on diesel, continue to play a role in the final pump prices charged by oil marketing companies.
Motorists are expected to see some relief at the pumps, while households that rely on LPG for cooking will face higher costs from the new pricing window.
