‘Of course I know you’ — Galatasaray star backtracks on his sly dig at Lamine Yamal

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina appears to have put his differences with Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal aside after the teenager impressed in Barcelona’s reported 4-1 Champions League victory in Istanbul.

The Gabon international had previously attracted attention after old comments resurfaced on social media, suggesting that he preferred his teammate Leroy Sané to Yamal. However, the Barcelona winger responded with an impressive performance, earning the Player of the Match award.

Following the encounter, Yamal appeared to make a playful reference to the earlier controversy by posting pictures from the match on social media with the caption, “Do you know me now?”, accompanied by a ghost emoji.

Lemina subsequently responded warmly, sharing a photograph of his young son posing with the Barcelona star.

“Of course I know you, my little one is crazy about you. Congratulations Lamine Yamal,” the midfielder wrote.

The exchange appeared to ease the tension surrounding their earlier comments, with Lemina congratulating Yamal on his performance. The Galatasaray midfielder was also reportedly among those who approached the teenager after the final whistle to request a photograph for his son, who is a big fan of the Barcelona winger.

Meanwhile, Yamal continues to attract widespread attention for his performances, strengthening his reputation as one of the most exciting young players in world football. His displays have also placed him among the names being discussed in connection with the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

With the ceremony scheduled for October 26, a day after the first El Clasico of the season, the Barcelona teenager could face a defining period in his young career as he looks to maintain his impressive form on the biggest stage.
