Miracles Aboagye Drops More Revelation About NDC
New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director Dennis Miracles Aboagye has disputed claims that Emelia Afi Agbenyoâs association with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) began only after the party selected Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as its running mate.
Aboagye maintains that Agbenyoâs political leanings were already known during her time at the University of Ghana, where she participated actively in student politics.
Speaking in an interview on Joy News, the NPP communications director said Agbenyo attended the university between 2004 and 2008 and was recognised on campus as a supporter of the NDC.
He further noted that she served as Secretary of the University of Ghana Studentsâ Representative Council (SRC) in 2008, a period during which, according to him, an individual affiliated with the NPP held the position of SRC president.
Aboagye, who said he attended the same university between 2003 and 2007, argued that Agbenyoâs involvement in student leadership made her political background a matter of public knowledge among the university community.
He insisted that her political associations should not be portrayed as a recent development linked to the NDCâs decision to nominate Opoku-Agyemang as its vice-presidential candidate.
The NPP official questioned the explanation that Agbenyo joined the partyâs political circles only after the nomination, describing such a narrative as an attempt to mislead Ghanaians.
He argued that her participation in campus politics provided an earlier basis for understanding her political affiliations, long before her recent appointment as a Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC).
âIf the NDC comes to tell you in 2026 that she is a consultant and an advocate and that she came to join them when the female vice president was nominated, that is the biggest insult to the intelligence of the people of this country,â Aboagye said.
His comments add to the ongoing political debate surrounding Agbenyoâs appointment to the Electoral Commission, particularly questions about her political background and the importance of maintaining public confidence in the independence and impartiality of the electoral management body.
