Miracles Aboagye Drops More ‘Filla’ Over Abgenyo’s Appointment

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the National Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has released further details—locally referred to as “filla”—regarding the appointment of Emelia Afi Agbenyo to the Electoral Commission (EC). Aboagye alleges that the newly appointed official has deep, long-standing political ties to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking on JoyNews, Miracles Aboagye detailed Agbenyo’s history as an active student politician at the University of Ghana. According to Aboagye, who was a contemporary at the institution between 2003 and 2007, Agbenyo served as the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Secretary in 2008 and was widely recognized for her strong alignment with NDC student politics.

Dismissing assertions that Agbenyo is merely an independent consultant or civil society advocate, Aboagye argued that framing her as non-partisan insults the intelligence of the Ghanaian public. He claimed to possess significant evidence establishing her active partisan background, questioning how such an appointment can guarantee the neutrality and impartiality required of the electoral body.

Aboagye urged the public and civil society groups to apply consistent standards when evaluating public appointments. He asserted that appointing known party activists to constitutional bodies like the Electoral Commission undermines public confidence in election management, insisting that political fairness must be maintained regardless of which administration is in power.
