Meghan & Eugenie’s Relationship Takes Another Dramatic Turn After Report the Princess Was ‘Horrified’ Over a Claim Involving the Duchess

“Eugenie has become very reluctant to maintain the same level of contact with the Sussexes, despite their longstanding friendship,” one source said. “The change has disappointed Harry, who previously regarded his younger cousin as one of his most dependable allies within the royal family.”

The princess did keep in touch with Meghan and Prince Harry after they stepped back from royal duties and moved to the US in 2020. She even appeared in their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and stood by them following the release of Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare.

But now, ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s connection to Epstein has put Eugenie in an incredibly difficult situation. She and her sister, Princess Beatrice, have not been accused of any misconduct, but they are worried their parents’ actions could jeopardize their position in the royal family.

According to palace sources, Eugenie is “particularly concerned about preserving relationships” with King Charles and Prince William. The father-son duo is not on the best terms with Harry and Meghan, so if Eugenie remains friendly with the Sussexes, Charles and William could one day decide to cut Eugenie off.

With that in mind, Eugenie has reportedly become “less enthusiastic about arranging meetings with the couple.” She hasn’t even met with Harry and Meghan since their big return to the UK in August 2026.

“Meghan’s friendship with Eugenie has always had an obvious personal significance, but there would also be considerable appeal in having somebody with Eugenie’s royal connections associated with the lifestyle Meghan is trying to create through As Ever,” a royal insider told RadarOnline.

Eugenie reportedly fits the As Ever brand to a T, as she “moves naturally” in the entertainment, hospitality, and lifestyle industries. Sources added that she even “represents the sort of established social world that Meghan is attempting to reach through her business,” but Eugenie seemingly doesn’t want “to become an official ambassador or appear in advertising campaigns.”

“Sometimes the value of a relationship comes simply from being seen together, sharing experiences and introducing a brand to people who might otherwise have little interest in it,” the insider continued. “From a commercial perspective, even an informal association with another royal figure could generate enormous publicity. A photograph of the two women entertaining together, or Eugenie appearing at an event connected to As Ever, would inevitably attract international attention.”

The source went on to say that “there is a fundamental difference between having a close personal friendship and being willing to involve yourself in somebody else’s commercial enterprise. Eugenie has her own professional reputation, her own family responsibilities and her own relationships within the monarchy to consider.”

“If Meghan had hoped that their friendship might eventually create opportunities for As Ever, Eugenie’s apparent reluctance to become more publicly involved would represent a disappointment,” they concluded. “Her distance from the Sussexes has scuppered Meghan’s plan to use her to promote and maybe develop products in Britain.”

This latest update on Meghan and Eugenie’s relationship comes shortly after a special edition of Meghan’s book The Bench popped up on eBay. Meghan gifted this specific copy to Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, as the listing included a handwritten message from the former Suits star.

“2021 Dear Eug & Jack, Celebrating the special bond between father and son,” the note said, per the eBay listing. “I wrote this poem at Frogmore – I hope that Eug, you witness the same love there with your guys. All love, Meghan.”

The listing has since ended, but it was priced at £19,999 ($26,000).

According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, Eugenie was mortified. A source told Naughty But Nice, “Eugenie called Meghan herself. She was horrified the book had somehow ended up for sale and made it absolutely clear she would never knowingly sell a personal gift from Meghan.”

On the other hand, other sources indicated that Eugenie threw out Meghan’s book to “make her loyalties clear.”

“Eugenie’s always tried to stay out of controversy but with Harry and Meghan on her doorstep demanding a ‘catch up,’ she’s had to take a stand and it was always going to be with Kate and William,” a source claimed to New Idea. “This book scenario is the perfect play – no one, especially Meghan, really believes that book was discarded by accident.”
