MCI 2-4 PSG: Match Review And Updated UEFA Champions League Table
According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain ended Manchester City’s eight-match winning streak with a convincing 4-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium in the UEFA Champions League, despite Erling Haaland reaching a historic scoring milestone for the English side.
PSG extended their unbeaten run in the competition to 12 matches and secured their first-ever victory at the Etihad Stadium with an impressive attacking performance that exposed City’s defensive weaknesses.
The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute through Desire Doue, who finished a brilliant passing move from the edge of the penalty area after PSG worked the ball from one end of the pitch to the other.
Two minutes later, Ousmane Dembele doubled the French champions’ advantage, heading home an inviting delivery from Doue after finding himself unmarked at the far post.
City struggled to contain PSG’s attacking threat, with Achraf Hakimi coming close to adding a third when his header struck the base of the post.
The visitors eventually extended their lead through Vitinha, who swept the ball into the net from the edge of the area after Warren Zaire-Emery’s clever flick created the opportunity.
Hakimi subsequently missed a chance to make it four before the interval, firing straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Josko Gvardiol headed wide from a corner as City searched for a response.
City made three substitutions at half-time in an attempt to change the course of the match. Enzo Fernandez then missed a promising opportunity to reduce the deficit, heading wide from close range after Antoine Semenyo helped create the opening.
However, the hosts found a breakthrough eight minutes into the second half when Haaland converted a cross from Iliman Ndiaye. The goal marked a significant moment for the Norwegian striker, who became Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League.
PSG quickly restored their three-goal advantage through Maghnes Akliouche, whose effort slipped beyond Donnarumma after the goalkeeper failed to deal with the attempt.
City continued pushing forward, with Gvardiol, Fernandez and Haaland threatening to score again. Haaland eventually completed his brace by sweeping home Ayyoub Bouaddi’s cutback to make it 4-2.
PSG could have restored their three-goal cushion late on, but Ferran Torres missed a penalty in the final five minutes.
