GAINESVILLE, Texas (KTEN) — A man and child were found dead in Gainesville on Wednesday.

Police said they have been looking for a 4-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert issued in Norman, Oklahoma, after his father failed to drop him off at his mother’s home in Norman, Oklahoma, on Sunday.

Gainesville police said they had been looking for Andrew “Harry” Furley since a report that he was seen with his father, Caleb Furley, at a local business in the 1500 block of North Grand Avenue on Monday afternoon.

“Tragically, during the search, the investigator located a deceased man and child,” Chief Kevin Phillips said in a written statement. “This is an active investigation and positive identification will be made by the medical examiner.”

The Amber Alert was canceled after Oklahoma authorities said the child had been found.

Police urge anyone with information about the case to contact the department at 940-668-7777. Anonymous tips can be shared at the Crimes Tip Hotline, 940-612-0000.
