Majority Accuses Minority of Personal Attacks on Ablakwa Over Nana B’s Service Passport

The Majority Caucus on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee has accused the Minority of launching personal attacks against Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa following his alleged refusal to grant NPP Second Vice-Chairman Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, a service passport.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Salaga South MP Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah alleged that the controversy was linked to an unsuccessful attempt by Bosome Freho MP Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh and Nana B to persuade the minister to make an exception for the NPP official.

According to her, Ablakwa rejected the request because Nana B’s previous roles as National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Board Chairman of the National Food Buffer Stock Company did not meet the requirements for obtaining a service passport.

The Majority Caucus maintained that the minister’s decision reflected his commitment to following the applicable rules and a presidential directive requiring former officeholders to surrender their diplomatic and service passports.

Hajia Ibrahimah further accused the Minority of using parliamentary oversight as a means of pursuing personal interests and warned against turning legitimate scrutiny into a platform for settling personal grievances.

The controversy comes amid an ongoing disagreement between the Majority and Minority over the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s handling of the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh has questioned the reported GH¢49.72 million expenditure on the evacuation exercise, pointing to alleged inconsistencies in documents provided by the ministry in response to his Right to Information (RTI) request.

The claims surrounding the passport request remain allegations made by the Majority Caucus.
