KNUST Announces New Reopening Dates For 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced revised reopening dates for the 2026/2027 academic year, providing fresh students and continuing students with an updated schedule for reporting to campus.

According to a notice issued by the university’s Office of the Registrar on October 14, 2026, fresh students are expected to report on Thursday, October 15, while continuing students will report on Saturday, October 17.

The university announced the revised dates following an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The decision was communicated to students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders to ensure they are aware of the new arrangements and can prepare accordingly.

KNUST has also confirmed that lectures for the new academic year will begin on Monday, October 19, 2026. This means fresh students will have to report four days before lectures commence, while continuing students are expected to return to campus two days before the start of academic activities.

The university has urged students, parents and guardians to take note of the revised schedule and make the necessary preparations. Students travelling to Kumasi for the new academic year are expected to organise their transportation and accommodation arrangements in line with the announced reporting dates.

The notice was signed by E. T. Otieku, Deputy Registrar for General Administration, on behalf of the Registrar. The university also expressed appreciation to students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders for their understanding, patience and cooperation.

The announcement provides an important update for students preparing to resume their academic activities at KNUST. Fresh students are expected to follow the reporting arrangements, while continuing students must also take note of their designated date.

With lectures scheduled to begin on October 19, students are encouraged to prepare for the reopening and follow further official communications from the university regarding the 2026/2027 academic year.
