John Boyega, 34, welcomes baby with wife Tae Heckard, 48, after secretly marrying

The Star Wars actor, 34, has typically kept his private life away from the spotlight, but shared his joyful personal news via Instagram on Tuesday.

Fans had long suspected he was dating American video model Lashontae Heckard, 48, after they were spotted enjoying a date at Disneyland in April 2025.

John has now confirmed that the couple tied the knot, telling The Guardian: ‘I’ve been married for coming up to two years now,’ while also acknowledging his wedding ring.

Sharing the backstory of his two wedding bands, he added: ‘This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this. It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!

‘I would love to have a wedding celebration. We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry. And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down.’

He then confirmed that, at the time of the interview, they were expecting their first child together.

‘My baby’s on the way. We got a baby cooking,’ he revealed, adding that it was a boy.

‘So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing,’ the actor said proudly.

This week, John announced they have now welcomed their baby boy, while also sharing a glimpse into his relationship with actress Tae on Instagram.

The Attack the Block star wrote in the caption: ‘Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now but thank you for all the well wishes. Also my sister is about to pop! Wish her well too!

A short video in the post showed John cradling the newborn, and he also included a photo of his stepson from Tae’s previous relationship.

Tae, who was born in South Korea, is best known for appearing in music videos of various R&B and hip hop artists in the 2000s, such as 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and Ne-Yo.

She shares her son with former NBA star Brandon Jennings and is also rumoured to have dated NFL player Stefon Diggs, who shares a child with Cardi B.

John has been open about his desire to settle down and previously said in an interview with GQ that he only dates Black women.

‘Then it’s about chemistry, personality, goals. Is there a synergy? Can I help you? Can you help me?,’ he told the publication.

‘I’m very disciplined in the type of women I speak to. They don’t want you in their business.’

John recently returned to screens in the harrowing BBC documentary about the death of Damilola Taylor, who was the actor’s school friend at the time of his murder in 2000.
