Jessica Alves has revealed that she has broken up with her boyfriend Matthias, claiming he chose independence over a future together.

Since falling for the German engineer two years ago the TV personality has kept a low profile which has seen her once seven million Instagram following dwindle.

So now, not only is Jessica without the man who she called the love of her life, but she is without the following she relied on for income and brand deals.

Calling it quite: Jessica Alves revealed she has split from her German engineer boyfriend Matthias

Despite the hardships the TV personality is now planning on making a comeback and has moved back to London full time.

She told the Daily Mail: ‘I spent years building my career around the world and then I fell in love and wanted to give my personal life a genuine chance.

‘I’ve always been messed around by men in the past who wanted to use me and I never thought I would be worthy of being with someone who loved me for me.

‘But I don’t regret loving somebody. But I’ve learned you should never minimise yourself while trying to build a life with somebody else. For once, I wanted to just be the girlfriend.’

Jessica first began talking to Matthias at the end of 2024 before meeting him in person in January 2025, where things quickly became serious.

She said: ‘I was close to his family and friendship circle and he was close to mine to. We travelled extensively together and I was content for the first time in life.

‘I wanted to wake up beside the man I loved, travel together, spend time with our families and friends and believe we were building something permanent.’

Dwindling stardom: Jessica has lost her once seven million follower count and is now starting afresh on Instagram

As the relationship became increasingly important to her, Jessica says she consciously reduced television, press, and public appearances.

She said: ‘I chose my personal life. At that point I genuinely believed love and building a future together were more important.’

But despite her sacrafices Matthias was seemingly not as committed.

Speaking about her ex-lovers positive qualities, Jessica said: ‘Matthias had many beautiful qualities.

‘He could be incredibly caring, loving, affectionate and consistent. In many ways he treated me better than a lot of men I’d encountered before. I loved him very deeply.’

But during their last trip to Sicily, they got into an argument, with Jessica wondering if he could have met someone else – and they ended up breaking up.

She also received messages from other women, the nature of which she wouldn’t share, but they made her question him.

Jessica said: ‘I wanted to trust him and because I loved him, I put my fears to one side but I was suspicious of some of the communications he was still having, but he reassured me it was all harmless.

‘My gut instinct was telling me that all was not well. We had good times and bad times and there was still so much good.

‘I thought love, stability and time could fix things. Then my seven-million-follower world began falling apart.’

Signs of struggle: Earlier this year, Matthias traveled for work and attended a bachelor weekend in Amsterdam and Jessica felt like he was cold afterwards; pictured in happier times

Jessica’s Instagram account was repeatedly compromised during her time away from the spotlight.

Giving more details she said: ‘People think Instagram is just a place to post photos but for me, that’s where I earned a significant chunk of my income.

‘My television work, international travel, prestigious events, commercial collaborations and connection with my audience were documented there.’

And it happened at precisely the moment she had already voluntarily stepped away from other areas of public life to concentrate on her relationship.

Jessica added: ‘It felt as though my professional world was collapsing while my personal world was becoming increasingly complicated.

‘And instead of leaving the relationship, I held onto it even harder. I thought, ‘At least I have love. At least I have Matthias. But I hadn’t completely stopped working, I was writing my book’

In the summer of 2026, Jessica and Matthias would see each other all the time, despite living between London and Nuremberg, but then came an unusually long separation of almost a month.

During that period, Matthias travelled for work and attended a bachelor’s weekend in Amsterdam and Jessica felt like he behaved coldly afterward.

She said: ‘I can’t tell you what happened while we were apart because I wasn’t there, and I’m not going to accuse somebody of something I didn’t witness. But from my perspective, the man who came back to me felt different.’

Conversations about their relationship, independence, and the future began taking on a different tone.

Jessica said: ‘Things that had seemed natural between us suddenly seemed to feel heavy for him. I felt him pulling towards freedom and independence. I felt a shift.

‘I thought we’d simply spent too much time apart. I went to Sicily thinking we’d have a beautiful holiday, reconnect and everything would settle down. I certainly wasn’t going there expecting our relationship to end.’

Instead, Sicily exposed just how differently the couple had begun to view their relationship and future and they broke up.

She said: ‘I wanted commitment, security and a future together. Matthias was telling me that he needed freedom, independence, and space.’

Long distance: The couple spent a lot of time traveling as he was based in Germany and her in London

Midway through what was supposed to be a romantic holiday, Jessica prepared to return to London alone.

She said: ‘I had to return home and give him his space and the freedom he was looking for.

‘From my perspective, he wanted a level of freedom outside the boundaries of the relationship that I wasn’t comfortable with.

‘And I finally had to accept that I couldn’t change that. We cried when I left. He told me he loved me, but he couldn’t offer me the marriage and future I wanted.

‘I became so invested in being somebody’s partner that I stopped giving the same energy to Jessica.’

Now she’s rebuilding her professional life with a new Instagram account, with the handle @jessicaalvesuk_00, television appearances, and a new book.

She said: ‘I created a career for myself once and I know I can do it again.

‘I don’t regret anything, but I will never prioritise a relationship over myself again.’
