ISWAP: DSS arrests ransom negotiator Kaigama .

Spread the word The Federal High Court in Abuja Tuesday ordered that an alleged ransom negotiator for the Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP,), Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, put on trial by the Department of the State Service (DSS) on terrorism charges be kept at Kuje prison pending his trial on November 13, 2026.

Justice Ibrahim Salim of the court gave the remand order on Tuesday when the accused person was arraigned before him on seven- count amended charges.

The Director of the Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) Oyedepo Rotimi (SAN) led the prosecution team in which the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges.

After taking his not guilty plea, the DSS lawyer applied that the Court remand the defendant at Kuje prison.

He also prayed for an expeditious trial of the charges.

The accused person’s lawyer at the sitting, Chris Abengowe, efforts to argue bail application for the accused person was futile.

The bail application could not be entertained because it was predicated on the struck out charges, while the DPPF Oyedepo indicated interest to file counter affidavit against the bail request.

Justice Salim while giving a short ruling fixed November 13 for commencement of trial.

The presiding judge also ordered that he be remanded in Kuje Correctional facility pending the hearing of his bail application.
