Harry & Meghan’s Worst ‘Nightmare’ Unfolds After Report the Prince Was Caught ‘Fighting Back Tears’ Following ‘Devastating’ Update

However, that’s no longer in the cards. “There was talk of another walkabout, but that idea has been killed,” a source told Rob Shuter about the couple possibly recreating their iconic 2017 walkabout. “The nightmare is people turning up to boo them — or nobody bothering to turn up at all. Neither is a risk anyone wants to take.” Related Stories Meghan & Eugenie’s Relationship Takes Another Dramatic Turn After Report the Princess Was ‘Horrified’ Over a Claim Involving the Duchess The Exact Amount Harry Was Paid to Talk About Diana Finally Revealed After He Was Accused of ‘Cashing in’ on Her Death

What exactly happened in 2017? On December 1, just days after announcing their engagement, the pair made their first official joint public appearance at Nottingham to cheering crowds. Nearly 10 years later, they’ll visit charities in the area but skip the walkabout for fear that the reaction will not be the same.

“In 2017, crowds were desperate to see them,” an insider told Naughty By Nice. “Now nobody wants to find out how many people would actually show up. Empty streets could be even more embarrassing than angry crowds.”

Harry and Meghan’s fear comes shortly after the Duke of Sussex attended a rugby match between Leicester and Gloucester. At the match, he was faced with some boos. “They can control the schedule and the photographs,” the source continued. “But they cannot control genuine public affection. That’s why the walkabout idea is dead,” Shuter’s source said.

According to Shuter, the situation at the rugby match was very confusing and upsetting for Harry. “Harry didn’t hear the boos. He was enjoying the match and genuinely believed everyone was happy to see him,” a source said in a separate Naughty But Nice report. “It wasn’t until afterward, that the reality hit. He was absolutely crushed.”

“Harry genuinely believes the British people still love him,” an insider added. “He knows his relationship with his family is damaged, but he never imagined British people would turn against him. Finding out they were booing was devastating.”

“He can handle criticism from the palace. What he cannot handle is feeling rejected by his own country,” the source noted. “He was fighting back tears. Britain is still home to him.”

To add insult to injury, these reports came about after Closer alleged that Harry is “attempting to arrange a secret meeting” with his brother, Prince William. Whether that reunion brings the brothers closer together before the holidays is still a big question mark, though.

“Harry is genuinely shocked and never thought for a second that his brother would still be this angry,” one insider revealed to the outlet. “He genuinely believed it would eventually be water under the bridge, so this extreme reaction is something of a shock.”
