Former BOST deputy MD sues company over alleged unlawful termination

Former Deputy Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, has taken the company to court over what he describes as the unlawful termination of his appointment.

His lawyer, Patrick Fafali Azameti, says his client was never formally notified of the termination of his employment following the change of government in 2025, despite repeated attempts to establish his status and recover outstanding entitlements.

Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, Mr Azameti said some individuals entered Mr Kpemka’s office after the change of government and instructed him to leave and hand over to officials of the company.

He said Mr Kpemka subsequently made several efforts to obtain his outstanding benefits from BOST, but those attempts proved unsuccessful, prompting him to seek legal redress.

“After several demands on BOST to pay him his entitled benefits failed, he was left with no option but to take the matter to court for the appropriate remedy,” the lawyer said.

Mr Azameti maintained that his client had not received any formal correspondence confirming the termination of his appointment.

“The interesting part of it is that there was no official or formal communication of termination,” he added.

The lawyer explained that Mr Kpemka’s employment agreement outlined the terms and conditions governing his service, including the procedures the company was required to follow in ending his appointment.

He said the agreement also stipulated the benefits and remuneration due to his client.

Mr Kpemka is seeking compensation through the court action against BOST over the circumstances surrounding the end of his tenure and the outstanding entitlements he claims are owed to him.
