Federal Constitutional Court rejects Bushra Bibi’s plea to suspend sentence in £190m Case

The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Wednesday rejected Bushra Bibi’s application seeking suspension of her sentence and release on bail in the £190 million case.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, a two-member bench headed by FCC Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan announced the decision.

Bushra Bibi had filed an appeal on July 30, 2026, requesting the court to suspend the sentence handed down by the trial court and grant her bail until a final decision on her appeal.

In her petition, she primarily sought relief on medical grounds, stating that she had developed an eye condition during imprisonment and had undergone eye surgery while in custody. She argued that her medical condition and status as a woman warranted the grant of bail.

The appeal further alleged that she had been kept in solitary confinement and denied adequate medical treatment and care during her incarceration.

Bushra Bibi also accused the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of deliberately creating obstacles to the adjudication of applications seeking suspension of her sentence.

She had urged the Federal Constitutional Court to suspend her sentence and order her release on bail pending a final decision in the case. The court, however, rejected her plea.

Separately, the TV channel reported that on Wednesday, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended Bushra Bibi’s pre-arrest bail until October 28 in 29 cases related to the November protest.

The accused PTI workers, lawyers, and the prosecution team appeared before Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Colonel Ajmal Sabir’s pre-arrest bail in nine cases was extended until October 28.

Hearing was held on pre-arrest bail regarding various cases involving protests outside Adiala Jail.

The court also extended bail until October 27 for Sadaf Abbasi, Chaudhry Naveed, Rabia Iqbal, Shahla Niazi, and Irfan Saleem.
