Did Anna Have Two Killers? Netflix’s ‘The Trap’ Ending Explained: Was Lisa Konrad Also Responsible?
All six episodes of ‘The Trap’, starring Friederike Becht and Hans Löw, arrived on Netflix on 13 October 2026 SCREENSHOT: Netflix/YouTube/Scree Netflix’s German psychological thriller The Trap delivers a disturbing finale that changes everything viewers thought they knew about Anna Konrad’s murder. After spending nearly a decade trying to identify her sister’s killer, reclusive author Lisa Konrad finally gets a confession from the man she suspected. However, his admission comes with a shocking accusation: he stabbed Anna six times, leaving two other wounds that may have been inflicted by Lisa herself.
All six episodes of The Trap, starring Friederike Becht and Hans Löw, arrived on Netflix on 13 October 2026. Written and directed by Isabel Kleefeld and based on Melanie Raabe’s novel, the series follows Lisa’s attempt to expose the man she believes destroyed her life. Its final twist raises a more unsettling question: was Lisa hunting a murderer while concealing her own possible role in her sister’s death?
Lisa has barely left her home in almost ten years, traumatised by the night she discovered Anna fatally wounded. Although she caught a glimpse of the person fleeing the scene, the killer was never brought to justice.
Everything changes when Lisa believes she recognises the man on television. He is Robert Lenzen, an award-winning journalist played by Hans Löw. Determined to make him reveal the truth, Lisa writes a book inspired by Anna’s murder and offers Robert an exclusive interview at her secluded home.
The encounter becomes a psychological battle rather than the straightforward confrontation Lisa had imagined. Robert has researched her medical history and knows how to exploit her vulnerabilities. He drugs her drinks and attempts to undermine her confidence in her own memories, making her question whether she can trust what she remembers about the night Anna died.
The finale reveals that Robert was responsible for stabbing Anna. He admits that he killed Anna after their affair turned dangerous and she threatened to expose their relationship.
Robert had been involved with Anna while married to Alexandra. When he attempted to end the affair, Anna refused to accept the situation, and the confrontation ended in violence. Robert stabbed her six times before Lisa arrived at the apartment, forcing him to flee.
Lisa had spent years believing Robert was responsible for her sister’s death, and his confession finally validates her suspicions. Yet the revelation does not bring the clean resolution she expected.
Robert insists that he stabbed Anna only six times, despite the fact that she sustained eight wounds. His account leaves two stab wounds unexplained and turns the accusation back on Lisa.
The possibility that Lisa delivered the final two wounds is the finale’s most unsettling twist. If Robert is telling the truth, Lisa may have attacked Anna after arriving at the scene, potentially making her a second killer.
However, the series deliberately leaves room for doubt. Robert has spent much of the confrontation manipulating Lisa, so his accusation cannot automatically be treated as definitive proof. The difference between six and eight wounds is significant, but viewers are not given an entirely conclusive account of what happened during those final moments.
Lisa’s complicated relationship with Anna adds another layer to the mystery. The sisters experienced rivalry, resentment and emotional conflict, challenging Lisa’s idealised memories of their relationship. Her decision to delete the recording of Robert implicating her further complicates the question of whether she is suppressing a genuine memory or refusing to entertain another cruel manipulation.
Robert’s confession confirms that Lisa was right about his involvement in Anna’s murder, but it does not settle whether she also bears responsibility. His death leaves Lisa without the courtroom confrontation she had spent years imagining, while the unresolved wounds continue to haunt the story.
Ultimately, The Trap turns Lisa’s revenge plan into a confrontation with her own memory and guilt. She succeeds in exposing the man she suspected, but the possibility that she also killed her sister leaves the mystery far from a comfortable resolution. Additionally, Lisa’s deleted recording fuels suspicion about her motives but does not prove she killed Anna.
The finale’s most disturbing implication is that identifying one murderer does not necessarily reveal the whole truth. Lisa may have found the man who killed Anna, but whether she was also responsible for the final two wounds remains the question that gives Netflix’s thriller its chilling final twist.
