The reveal came as the company highlighted how it is adapting commercial technology for military applications.

The General Motors subsidiary calls its method “customer-first, technology-transferred,” meaning it adapts existing GM engineering instead of starting from scratch. The concepts were announced alongside several business updates, all detailed in GM’s official press release.

The UGV concept is built on a skateboard architecture drawn from the dual-rear-wheel Silverado 3500HD. GM Defense is positioning it for quiet logistics and casualty evacuation. Functional trials are targeted for 2027.

Alongside it, the company showed the EPIQ Hybrid prototype, an energy storage system rated at 60 kilowatts and 100 kilowatt-hours. It pairs with an onboard generator and is designed to cut thermal and noise signatures in austere environments. GM Defense describes it as inspired by customer input.

GM Defense responded to the evolving requirement by identifying a capability gap and self-funding the Infantry Squad Vehicle Utility (ISV-U) prototype. It delivered seven early examples for unit-level assessment at no cost to the Army. The resulting five-soldier variant is expected to reach 39 active-duty and National Guard mobile brigades.

GM Defense also highlighted its speed in industrial support work. It signed a contract with Lockheed Martin on August 6 and delivered the first PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement housing components on August 28, a 22-day turnaround. The company credits its casting and precision-fabrication capabilities.

In the United Kingdom, GM Defence UK is advancing its proposal for the Light Mobility Vehicle program. It is teamed with NP Aerospace and BAE Systems under the Team LionStrike banner, proposing commercially based vehicles designed to meet allied demand for speed and scale.

GM Defense President Steve duMont said that “the modern defense landscape demands advanced capability, rapid fielding and sustainable scale,” and that the company never starts from a blank sheet. Instead, it carries GM’s engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing scale directly to service members.
