California couple brings social media to tears after actress secretly records their Malibu beach engagement

A California actor melted hearts online after she secretly recorded a couple’s engagement at Point Mugu State Beach in Malibu Tuesday.

Brandee Evans, an actor best known for her role in the Starz drama series “P-Valley,” is a full-time caregiver to her mother, who lives with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

She was on a cliff above the beach when she spotted Daniel Sanchez and his wife-to-be, Blanca Carcamo, below as family members ducked behind cars to record the proposal.

“Yesterday in Malibu, as I was leaving the beach, I noticed a whole family hiding behind my car. Now, of course, I needed to know what was going on. The dad tells me his daughter is about to get engaged, and that’s when I realized… WAIT! It was the same couple I had been sitting near on the beach!,” Evans said.

She shared a video of the moment showing Sanchez asking Carcamo to pose for a photo facing the ocean before getting down on one knee with a ring.

“By the time I made it back to my car, the family had already left, so I didn’t get a chance to share the video with them,” Evans added. She then asked the internet for help — and it did not disappoint, eventually connecting her with the couple.

“I’m yelling at the end like she’s my cousin. Congratulations, y’all! This was so sweet to witness,” Evans said of the moment she captured.

Sanchez and Carcamo’s love story may be even sweeter than the proposal, and the couple’s connection goes back to childhood, when they attended the same church before drifting apart over the years.

After they reconnected and began dating as adults, Carcamo’s father spotted a familiar face in old family photographs.

“A couple years ago, he sent the pictures, and he was like, ‘Do you recognize this guy?’ And I look closer, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Daniel! We came out in the same quinceañera?” Carcamo told CBS News, adding that she had been waiting for the proposal for nearly seven years.

The couple is getting married in May 2027.
